Jeremy: Yes, of course sir, I’m glad to hear that Mister Blackmoore is happy with our services and recommends us to his friends. How may we be of service?

Paul: I already have a website on-line, but I am rather dissatisfied with it. I believe I am missing the basic functionalities; it doesn’t fulfill its purpose at all.
Jeremy: Could you please tell me what technology was used to develop the site?
Paul: Plain HTML I believe.
Jeremy: Just HTML? No JavaScript? No CSS?
Paul: I am afraid I am not that familiar with the technicalities of this, I don’t understand.
Jeremy: JavaScript is a scripting language which is mainly used in the client-sided version. It adds certain simple functionalities to your website, for example enhanced user interfaces or dynamic content, although this is strongly dependent on the web browser.
Paul: I still don’t think I understand, but if you’re asking me about any moving content, my site is 100 per cent static. And what’s that CSS of yours?
Jeremy: CSS, Cascading Style Sheets, it’s another webdesign technology. Basically it is a style sheet language, which describes the looks and formatting of the contents of your website. So this is basically an easier way to manage the layout, colors and fonts of your website.
Paul: I have no idea, I didn’t design it. But I surely don’t have anything like that on my invoice.
Jeremy: OK, one last question. Did you have anybody do a SEP on your website?
Paul: I’m ashamed, but I am again puzzled by your question.
Jeremy: I mean did you have the site positioned in the search engines, did you have anybody perform a one-time or constant Search Engine Positioning?
Paul: No, never done that. And it surely doesn’t appear anywhere in the first ten pages of results for the keywords that I would be interested in.
